I recently had the sweetest studio session with Maddie and her friend Christina, and it ended up being one of those experiences that stays with you long after the camera is put away. Maddie has been my hairstylist, and honestly, she deserves the biggest shoutout. If it weren’t for her, I don’t think I would’ve stepped into a studio setting this early in my photography journey.

After my first appointment with her at the salon, I worked up the courage to ask if she’d ever be interested in doing a photoshoot—maybe even some branding photos if she needed them. To my surprise, she said yes right away. We picked a date, talked about the vibe she wanted, and she mentioned loving that clean, minimal studio aesthetic. So I booked the studio, excited but definitely nervous.

A little later, she asked if her friend Christina could join us, and of course I said yes. That’s how I ended up with two studio shoots in one day—and honestly, it was the best kind of chaos.

The energy was everything. They were laughing, playing music, pulling up inspiration photos, hyping each other up… it was girlhood in its purest form. Powerful, warm, uplifting, and so full of joy. Being in that creative space with them reminded me how special it is to be surrounded by women who encourage each other and make room for everyone to shine.

I won’t lie—I was nervous going into it. I’d never shot in a studio before, and I felt a little limited compared to the freedom of shooting outdoors. But stepping into something unfamiliar pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way. I ended up having so much fun, and it taught me something important: as a new photographer, growth happens when you’re willing to try the things that scare you a little.

Sometimes the smallest “yes” can lead to the most positive, confidence‑building experiences. This session was exactly that for me—creative, energizing, and a reminder that stepping outside your bubble is where the magic happens.
